Founded in 1989 by Cambridge-based entrepreneur Rob Stewart at the age of 23, Stevenage Packaging originally started its journey as a specialist supplier of eco-friendly, 100% recyclable, ultra-thin-film technology. Today, the business is a global-reaching full-service packaging provider.

Over nearly four decades, Rob has become a key figure in the packaging industry. His deep experience has led him to personally auditing more than 160 different extrusion, print & conversion plants across the globe.

Rob has played a significant role in the rationalisation and standardisation of polythene products in the UK by using his understanding of technological innovations.

Following the growth and success of the business, Rob has also introduced several other packaging firms into the Stevenage Packaging group.

These strategic acquisitions have enabled the business to provide better solutions, and respond more quickly and effectively to customer requirements.

A notable acquisition in recent years included the acquisition of an East Midlands-based polythene manufacturer, enabling the Stevenage Packaging group to more easily and cost-effectively supply recyclable food-grade and medical-grade packaging products to customers.

Following the expansion of the company, Rob now oversees the group’s strategy, acquisitions and global supply chain management.

In 1992, Rob founded Genetics Gymnasium Ltd in Stevenage. He ran the business through 2 successful years of profitable growth, and subsequently sold it to Marco Goldschmied, business partner of Lord Richard Rogers, in 1994.

In 2010, Rob acquired Happy Mechanics LTD, a specialist accountancy practice. Within just a year, Rob had led the company to achieve a 2,250% growth, making it one of the fastest growing firms in the UK in 2011.

As a seasoned and experienced entrepreneur, Rob has become well known for his coaching and mentoring proficiency. Under the brand, ‘The Differentiator’, Rob shared wisdom on ‘True Customer Love’, ‘Differentiating Through Culture’ and ‘Family Business Success’, sharing his inspirational business life story with several UK SMEs.

In more recent years, Rob has founded and ran Trumpington Estates Limited, a specialist estate management firm specialising in office, warehousing, residential lettings, historic renovations and period new builds.
